Gitte Dollerup Fjordbo

25th November 2007

About Gitte:

Gitte Dollerup Fjordbo holds an M.A. in Audiologopedics from the University of Copenhagen, Denmark (UCD). She had the Alexander Technique acknowledged as a subject separate to and beyond her M.A. - and she's thus the first to have the AT approved on it's own at an academic level.

Gitte trained as a Neuro-developmental Therapist and has worked for many years with sound therapy. She is a certified Philosophical Counsellor i.e. counselling from a Soul-based Psychology. For many years Gitte has worked within the field of shock, trauma and stress. She is a certified Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and was certified as an Alexander Technique teacher in 1992.

Gitte wrote two theses for the UCD both of which have been distributed within the Alexander-community. The titles are :

1) On the Development of Habit: from the viewpoint of the Alexander Technique and early neuromotor patterns of development.

2) Why we have to crawl: On Human Development; motor and communicative skills - aberrations and inter-connections. The first has recently been re-printed with forewords by training-course directors Walter Carrington and Ray Evans (also a Neuro-developmental Therapist) and by neuro-scientist Lucy Brown.
